Our country needs to make a serious commitment to renewable energy (including wind) like what the UK is proposing to do as described in this article: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/environment/article3022277.ece
From http://rredc.nrel.gov/wind/pubs/atlas/chp2.html: Exposed coastal areas in the Northeast from Maine to New Jersey and in the Northwest southward to northern California indicate class 4 or higher wind resource. See the map at: http://rredc.nrel.gov/wind/pubs/atlas/maps/chap2/2-01m.html
So much for posting to a blog on a regular basis. How can people do Twitter? There's no way I'd feel like doing twits every few hours with the minutia of my life. To the point, I heard this song on Pandora that I had to post something about. For some reason Sunship Balloons by The Flaming Lips just inspired me to post something. It's not the lyrics - I just don't know but there's something about that song.
In most cases, the podcasts I view on my iPod and the content I view on my Apple TV do not overlap. However, I had a few moments today and I though that I'd catch up on my podcasts using my Apple TV. So I sat on my couch, turned on the TV, flipped to Web Nation on the Apple TV and was surprised to see a choice allowing me to start the playback from the beginning or resume where I left off. Left off? I wasn't watching Web Nation on the AppleTV. This is the kind of feature that is typically added to the 3rd or 4th release of a product and just goes to show how much Apple totally gets user centered design.
Did you see the Harry Potter movie this weekend? Are you going to read the new book? Yes, my family and I saw it at an IMAX theater where the climax was in 3D. In my opinion, the film was good but not particularly noteworthy. I enjoyed Transformers more than HP. Will I read the book, yes but my kids and wife want to read it so I won't see it (and won't buy a second copy) until mid-August.
I've finally broken through the wall of procrastination and started web development project I've been pondering for about year. A year!, you say, sadly... yes. It's not like I've been doing nothing for a year. I've got a full time job at Telcordia Technologies, two kids - ages 10 and 9 years old with whom I invest a significant amount of my time and a varied collection of hobbies that I'd also like to put more time towards.
I've been giving some thought to a move from Windows to Mac. One thing that bugs me is the Mac bloatware ad. It implies that there is no trial software on a Mac. In looking through the Apple web site, I see:
- iWork '06 30-day trial
- Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac 30-day Test Drive
- Aperture Trial
- FileMaker Pro 30-day trial
Hmmm... The ceiling paint doesn't seem to be drying like the previous gallon did....30 minutes passes....Wow, it's really humid in here cause the paint hasn't dried yet... 15 minutes passes.... Hunny, where's the trim paint? Uh, it's on the ceiling? F***
I've been telling this story about when I get "old", I'll tell my grandchildren: "When I was young, you had to drive the car yourself. No way, grandpa!" That day (not having grandchildren, thank you) is coming quickly.
